Bering receives iF Design Award 2012

After scooping the OutDoor Industry Award 2011 and landing among the finalists of the OTS Award in the UK, the Nordisk high-tech sleeping bag Bering has now won the attractive german iF material design award for 2012.

The sleeping-bag convinced the panel of judges and beat 96 other entries in the category "Material / Material Properties" with its revolutionary BlackYarn fabric made of a unique mix of nylon fibres and coal particles.

The judges were looking for features including degree of innovation, comparison with existing materials and processes, environmental impact (production and use), craftsmanship, design quality and function.

The fabric of the attractively designed Bering, with its sophisticated structure of offset layers to combat thermal bridges, is a superb example of material that "effectively enables good and sustainable product design to be realized", as iF International Forum Design GmbH stated.
