A 3-4 person tent is the right choice when you are a small family, a group of friends or simply need real space for gear and living — without everyone sleeping cramped.
If the tent is going on a hiking or cycling trip, weight and pack size are decisive. As a rule of thumb, you should not hike with more than 20% of your own body weight in your pack — remember that tent, sleeping bag and sleeping mat take up a significant portion of that. Here an SI, LW or ULW lightweight tent is the right choice.
If the tent is primarily a sleeping cabin, standing height is not essential. But on longer trips and camping holidays where the weather can turn, it is worth prioritising a tent with good headroom and a spacious porch for cooking and gear storage.
Cotton tents are the most breathable and create an interior atmosphere no synthetic material can match — particularly noticeable on warm days. PU-treated polyester offers better UV protection for summer camping. Both weigh more than lightweight materials, but for trips where comfort and space take priority over grams they are the natural choice. SI tents are the strong compromise — low weight, small pack size and high durability.
A Nordisk tent is designed to last for many seasons — and to develop character over time. When wear occurs, our Care & Repair programme offers professional repair. Many repairs come down to replacing individual parts — see our tent accessories and spare parts.
Nordisk has been developing tents since 1901 — from ultralight models for hikers and bikepackers to spacious technical cotton tents for glamping and family camping. We use PFC-free materials and constructions tested under demanding conditions. Because good gear should last — not just for the next trip, but for many years to come.
